Azim Premji led Wipro since the late 60’s. Then a $2 million hydrogenated cooking fat company, Wipro Limited is today a $7 billion plus organization with presence in over 50 plus countries. Premji started at Wipro with one basic idea – to build an organization which was deeply committed to values, in the firm belief that success in business would be its inevitable, eventual outcome.
He takes personal interest in developing teams and leaders and invests significant time as a faculty in Wipro’s leadership development programs. In Premji’s view, the Wipro brand promise of “Applying Thought” is the driving force for delivering value for customers – which is the heart of business success. This has driven Wipro’s pioneering efforts in quality, culminating in the “Wipro Way”, which integrates the methods and practices of Six Sigma, PCMM, CMMi and Lean.
Over the years, Azim Premji has received many honors and accolades, which he believes are recognitions for each person who has contributed to Wipro.
He is also a member of the Prime Minister’s Committee for Trade and Industry in India. In January 2005 The Government of India conferred upon him the Padma Bhushana, one of the highest civilian awards in the country.
Premji is firmly committed to the belief that business organizations have deep social responsibility. Wipro through its not for profit Azim Premji Foundation; is deeply involved in trying to improve quality of school education through its “Wipro Applying Thought in Schools” initiative, in local community causes through “Wipro Cares” and is determinedly committed to a journey which weaves ecological sensitivity in every aspect of its business and organization.
In the year 2001, Premji established the Azim Premji Foundation, a not-for-profit organization with a vision of significantly contributing to quality primary education for every child, in order to build a just, equitable and humane society.
He is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, USA.
Independent Director – Wipro Enterprises Limited
Suresh Senapaty is Independent Director of Wipro Enterprises Limited and also Executive Director & Chief Finance Officer of Wipro Limited. He heads Business Planning, Treasury and Controllership.
His association with Wipro goes back to Wipro Consumer Care where he was the CFO. He later became the Vice President Finance of Wipro Infotech. He moved to his present role as CFO, Wipro Corporation in 1995.
Suresh Senapaty has accomplished a number of significant milestones for Wipro Corporation. His first assignment was the merger of various companies such as Wipro Infotech and Wipro Systems with Wipro Limited. He played a key role in the New York Stock Exchange Listing of Wipro in 2000. This is the second time in the history of Wipro that it accessed the capital market; the first time was 1946.
He has been a committee member of the Confederation of the Indian Industry (CII) at the Regional Level and has made successful representations to the Government of India on a variety of Industry related issues.
CEO – Consumer Care & Lighting Business and Executive Director
Vineet Agrawal is President, Wipro Consumer Care of business from year 2002.
Vineet joined Wipro in 1985 from campus in the Sales and Marketing function. His career progressed rapidly and in 1994, he became the Marketing head for the business. After significantly contributing to establishing the various national brands such as Santoor, Wipro Shikakai, Sunflower Vanaspati and Wipro Baby Soft range of products, Vineet provided leadership to the repositioning of the Wipro Corporate identity, eventually launching the new Wipro identity in April 1998.
In 1999, he was appointed Chief Executive of Wipro Peripherals and contributed in consolidating and growing the business. In July 2000, Vineet was appointed Corporate Vice President, responsible for Mission: Quality, Wipro Brand and Innovation for Wipro Corporation. Wipro launched the Innovation Initiative, Wipro Applying Thought program and Six Sigma consultancy under his leadership.
Since his elevation as President in 2002, Wipro Consumer Care business has seen dramatic growth –
with an over sixteen fold growth in thirteen years, to become a leading global personal care aspirant.
Wipro Consumer Care is the leading business unit of the recently formed - Wipro Enterprises Ltd. and globally operates thru its subsidiaries Wipro Unza, Wipro Yardley & LD Waxsons. Under the leadership of Vineet, Wipro Consumer Care has initiated a process to grow both organically and inorganically. North West modular switches, Chandrika ayurvedic soap and Glucovita glucose powder have been acquired by the group under him.
During his tenure, Wipro has also entered the office modular furniture market with the launch of its own brand. Under Commercial Lighting business he was Instrumental in coming out with Innovative Luminaires, Lighting solutions that provides for energy management systems and Green initiatives , wide range of LED products for both Indoor and Outdoor applications.
After achieving critical size in Indian operations, Vineet started expanding into International Operations and in 2007 acquired UNZA which has a strong presence in South East Asian countries like Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and China through marquee brands like Safi, Enchanteur,Dashing, Carrie Romano. Post UNZA, Wipro acquired the Yardley of London, Brand representing Asia, Middle East and most of Europe and Africa. In 2012, Wipro Consumer Care acquired L.D. Waxsons Group, which gives Wipro the leadership position in facial skincare market in Malaysia and Singapore, besides enhancing its market position in other Asian markets.
Under Vineet’s leadership Wipro Consumer Care business has grown across facets with presence in 50+ countries, 8500+ employees worldwide, with 15 manufacturing locations across 5 countries.
Vineet is a graduate engineer from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), New Delhi, and MBA from Jamanalal Bajaj Institute of Management, Mumbai. He has been awarded the “Distinguished Alumni” award from IIT Delhi in 2008.
CEO – Infrastructure Engineering Business and Executive Director of Wipro Enterprises Limited
Pratik CEO of Infrastructure Engineering Business and Executive Director of Wipro Enterprises Limited and has been associated with Wipro for the last 21 years. He is a member of Wipro’s senior leadership team, closely associated with Wipro’s growth over the years and has played a significant role in shaping it into a strong global player.
Being part of an industry that is highly people intensive, Pratik and his team of professionals have architected Wipro on a strong base of competencies, with the Wipro Competency Framework becoming a key vitalizing source for talent management.
Under Pratik's leadership, Wipro was recognized as the first company in the world to be assessed at PCMM Level 5, the highest maturity level on the SEI framework of Carnegie Mellon University.
In 2010 Pratik assumed business leadership role as President-Wipro Infrastructure Engineering business of Wipro. In addition to his business responsibility, Pratik continues to provide leadership to the Human Resources function of Wipro. Pratik is also a member of Wipro’s Corporate Executive Council.
Prior to his current role, he was part of Wipro’s IT business that is highly people intensive.
As a professional with over 24 years of experience, Pratik has experience in a variety of areas.
Pratik is an alumnus of XLRI, Jamshedpur one of India’s premier institutes.
Director – Wipro Enterprises Limited
Rishad Premji is Director of Wipro Enterprises Limited and also Chief Strategy Officer of Wipro's IT Business in Wipro Limited - In this role he is responsible for Wipro's Global IT Strategy.
Rishad joined Wipro Technologies in 2007 in the Banking and Financial Services Vertical (BFSI) as Business Head for Special Projects where he championed Wipro's entry into the Mortgage area as an end to end provider of Mortgage Solutions in the Origination and Loan Servicing space. This led to the acquisition of Gallagher Financial Systems (now called Wipro Gallagher Solutions).
In the BFSI space, Rishad also spearheaded the integration of Citi Technology Services following Wipro's acquisition of the Citibank captive in the application and infrastructure space. He later moved to Wipro Corporate as Head of Investor Relations working for the Corporate Treasurer where he helped significantly scale up the systems, processes and interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
Prior to joining Wipro, Rishad worked with Bain & Co in their London Office where he worked on assignments across Consumer Products, Automobiles, Telecom and Insurance. He also worked with GE Capital in the US across several businesses throughout the Insurance and Consumer Lending space and is a graduate of GE's Financial Management Program (FMP).
Rishad has an MBA from Harvard Business School (HBS) and graduated with a BA in Economics from Wesleyan University in the US. He has also spent a year at the London School of Economics where he was part of the General Course Program. He is also on the Board of the Azim Premji Foundation and Wipro GE.
